How can I conquer an Outpost?
An open Outpost on neutral or enemy territory can be contested and conquered with a hostile takeover. You can contest an Outpost by sending an Army, destroying any defending Units of its current owner and then occupying the Outpost. A successful attacking Army will automatically stay and occupy the Outpost. Once an Outpost is contested, its ownership will shift to the Guild that is able to occupy it for combined time of 60 minutes. Progress towards the 60 minute threshold is not reset if the Outpost is occupied by a competing guild, but your progress will halt until you occupy the Outpost again. Once a guild reaches the 60 minute threshold it successfully takes control of the Outpost and the Outpost is closed and cannot be contested again until all the Outposts open up for contesting again.
Outposts can be Reinforced even when they are in a closed state, so it is possible to pre-emptively garrison an Outpost before they open up for contesting.
How can I contest an Outpost?
Contesting an Outpost it's a power play move which is performed in the following occasions:
An enemy is trying to take over one or more of your Outposts. Two Guilds are fighting for the same Outpost.
If the above happens, I recommend you the following tactic:
- Send a Squad to scout
- Get result
- Assemble a Squad to contest
- Send Squad
Once that is done, the Outpost will be contested and both guilds will have a specific time in order to win the Outpost. You can keep sending more Ships or alert your Corporation for additional help.
